Supporting the next generationInvesting in future tech entrepreneurs
Today we’re a global software and consulting business with over 300 employees, yet just over a decade ago Deswik was a small tech start-up in Brisbane (Australia) with only a handful of employees.
Our history, coupled with our commitment to fostering innovation and creativity, drove Deswik’s founders to join the River City Labs Accelerator Program as investors and mentors. The Accelerator Program provides funding, mentorship and support to start-ups in Brisbane, with a focus on developing new technology enterprises.
Deswik Technical Director and co-founder Wayne Romer joined the Accelerator Program selection panel as an expert entrepreneur during the program’s third cohort. The panel is responsible for selecting start-ups with outstanding potential from 70+ applications for the few sought-after places in the program. As an investor in the program, Deswik provides funding, mentorship and support for the selected start-ups.
Wayne and co-founders Ian Lawler and Adam White understand the challenges and opportunities for small Australian tech firms, having built Deswik from a local business into a global enterprise while weathering the global financial crisis and mining downturn. Deswik’s partnership with the River City Labs Accelerator Program allows our founders to pass on this vital knowledge and expertise, acquired through many years of experience, to expand and nurture local industry.
We are proud to be involved in giving back to the Brisbane technology start-up community.
